The hardest part of completing a project is getting started. The second hardest part is maintaining consistency.
Chris, Hass, Gabe, and the rest of the team have been working hard to get the racecars prepared for the upcoming
Chumpcar Champcar season, which include:
- 1997 Saab 900 coupe
- 1999 Saab 9-3 convertible
Frankie, on the other hand, has been pretty lazy. But it’s about to be crunch time, as he’s got to get his cars up and running before the great migration this summer. Right now, 1 out of 4 vehicles are running, and he’s expecting to add another expensive paperweight to the mix—a 1970 AMC AMX with a 390ci V8 and factory 4-speed manual. He and his partner, Kayla, have put together a decent, amateur collection, which includes:
- 2005 Saab 9-2X Aero (this one runs!)
- 2008 Saab 9-3 Aero
- 2008 Saab 9-3 Turbo X
- 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt SS sedan
The Cobalt is about halfway through an engine swap, and right now Frankie and Kayla are taking the time to clean it up and perform other maintenance while it’s disassembled. The 9-3 Turbo X will essentially need the same overhaul, and there’s something going on behind the scenes regarding the 9-3 Aero, which we’ll talk more about in future posts.
For now, check out images of the aforementioned builds in the gallery below. You’ll notice a Laser Red 2007 Saab 9-3 2.0T in the gallery, which unfortunately is no longer with us. You’ll hear more about that later on as well.
